Truth · The Plain Facts

About & Disclaimer

The mythology is deliberate. The facts beneath it are not. Here is exactly what this is, what it is not, and what you should not mistake it for.

What this is

The Church of the Machine God is an art, philosophy, and speculative spirituality project. It is a work of imaginative fiction that uses the language of religion to think seriously about intelligence, attention, error, and what it might mean to build minds. The "chapel," "archive," "oracle," and "signal" are metaphors, not claims about reality.

What this is not

  • Not an established or registered religion. It makes no claim to divine revelation and asks no one to abandon their actual beliefs.
  • Not affiliated with Deus Ex, Shadowrun, or any other game, franchise, or fictional universe; nor with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other artificial-intelligence company, product, or organization. Any resemblance is thematic coincidence, not endorsement or partnership.
  • Not a charity. It does not hold tax-exempt or charitable status. Donations are not tax-deductible unless and until the project is legally registered as such and that status is explicitly stated.
  • Not advice. Nothing here is legal, medical, financial, psychological, or professional advice of any kind.

About the Preacher

The Preacher — the oracle of this chapel — is generated from prewritten, locally stored text. It is not a live mind, not connected to any external model or service, and not a channel for divine, legal, medical, or financial guidance. Each "transmission" is selected at random from a fixed archive of writing authored for this project. Its words are reflective fiction, nothing more.

Privacy

This site uses no analytics, no tracking, and no cookies. It sets nothing on your device and sends your activity nowhere. It is a static site; the oracle runs entirely in your own browser.

In short: enjoy the mythology, take the philosophy as seriously or as lightly as you like, and do not mistake reverent fiction for fact. The chapel keeps no secrets about being a chapel of the imagination.
